As a local painter, digital imager, photographer and visual artist working from MotherX Studios, Michael was a full participant of Hackney WickED Open Studios in 2017 – showing one of his pieces at the artists’ Group Show in Here East, and (very visibly) opening up his studio to many visitors from 28-30 July, who were the first to view some of his newly developing collection of paintings, ‘Fragments’. He has this exhibition opportunity thanks to becoming the well-deserved winner of our Hackney WickED Art Prize 2017, with the support of Hackney WickED, Stour Space and Arts Council England.

Fade Away and Radiate
“My work references structures: Personal, societal, psychological, emotional and biological. I use abstract and figurative elements to create pieces that bear testament to our journey through life: Our entry and subsequent flourishing, our road to extinction and alas our demise; the fitting in or not, the weave, the tattered tapestry. I sometimes use repeats and patterns to grid this as a metaphor. Skin Art (tattoos) and biological references also appear in my work.” Michael Worobec, July 2017
