Amechi Ihenacho

£3,000.00

“Amechi has been one of my Godfathers in East London. Showing me the ropes, running clubs together and teaching me the way of the night owl. He is also one of the most exceptionally well dressed people I know, something I have also tried to pick up from him. A dandy of the underground. Amechi is family to me, and I wanted to paint his portrait to celebrate him, and his dedication to night life in East London. Keeping things naughty and fun for longer than they would have otherwise. The painting celebrates his Nigerian and South London roots on one side, and that of classic European design & tailoring on the other. Some of the phrases are ‘King of Kingsland’ & ‘How to dress on a Monday night’.”
