Conrad Armstrong - SHADOW PROGRESS | Unit G Gallery
SHADOWPROGRESS is the first public installment from a major new body of work – PROGRESS – from multidisciplinary London artist Conrad Armstrong. After his hugely successful 2015 London solo exhibition INTO THE FOREST, Conrad begun a contemplative journey back towards the transient city of his birth to face the shadows within himself and his environment which has led him back for the first time in years to a serious exploration of Oil Paints as a medium. The show will also include new sculptural, video, sound, installation, written and drawn works of a very personal nature as Armstrong asks the questions to his audience and himself “what is ‘Progress’ when the rocking horse is in constant motion but makes no progress”, why do we as a people seem to have such a polarized vision of progress, has the cult of capitalism entered its final stages of metamorphosis, how has the dramatic rate of change and ‘development’ within London physically and culturally affected the outlook of the city and its citizens – how much of This is Progress?
